A TELEPHONE survey asking residents their views on West Dunbartonshire Council has produced positive results.

Interviews with 300 randomly selected people in the first three months of 2014 showed 75 per cent thought the council was efficient and well run - an improvement of 17 per cent compared to last year’s overall figure.

A record number of residents - 73 per cent - also recorded that the council was communicating well with its residents.

Satisfaction with services was lower in the second quarter than in previous surveys with Trading Standards and the council website seeing the biggest drops to 55 per cent and 71 per cent respectively. Overall, 88 per cent of residents questioned said they were satisfied with the services they received.

Council leader r Martin Rooney said: “These results represent the views of 300 residents and provide an interesting indicator of where this council is going in terms of performance.

“This administration has been committed to improving the quality of life of residents and a big part of that is improving the performance of the council. These results indicate that we are making progress and our job now is to keep the pressure on and keep raising standards. The people of West Dunbartonshire deserve the best standards possible and that is what we are aiming for.” West Dunbartonshire Council is one of the first local authorities in Scotland to introduce a monthly telephone survey asking local residents what they think of its services.
