That’s because the 33-year-old primary school teacher from Old Kilpatrick, who is more used to dealing with a class full of unruly children, will instead find himself having to cope with hundreds of screaming women as he bares all in front of them.

Brave Craig is set to peel off his clothes as part of the Mummers Theatre Group production of The Full Monty.

And last week he told the Post, that despite the initial nerves, he was sure the show would be a stunning success.

Craig said: “By the end the guys do take their clothes off. It does happen but hopefully not for a prolonged period.

“There was a nervousness there and a feeling of, am I going to be brave enough to take my clothes off in front of 400 people in Clydebank Town Hall, but it’s all done in good taste and good humour.

“I’m hoping the adrenaline kicks in and the experience of the show, and having the audience behind us 100 per cent, will certainly help us on the night.

“The six of us get on really well. We didn’t know each other particularly well before the show but throughout this we have got to know each other pretty well. There was an apprehensiveness to start off but as rehearsals have gone on we’ve become more laid back.” Based in Old Kilpatrick, the Mummers Theatre Group has a lengthy history of celebrated shows already behind it, having staged its first ever performance in Clydebank Town Hall in 1989.

However, Craig believes that despite the group’s previous triumphs, the togetherness shown by the current group of actors has kept everyone going throughout rehearsals and will shine through when the curtain goes up on the opening night. He added: “It’s the social thing. Everybody there is enjoying it for the same reason.

“We all like the buzz of the shows but it’s the camaraderie and relationships that we are all in it together that keeps you going.” Fellow cast member Mary Jack, a Bankie who now lives in Drumchapel, added: “The six guys in it have really bonded, they didn’t know each other before but they’ve developed a great friendship which I think will show when they are on the stage.

“It’s the first time Clydebank has ever had the Full Monty and it is totally and utterly the Full Monty.

“It’s incredibly funny, the story will have you in stitches from beginning to end. I don’t think anybody will be disappointed.” The show is taking place in Clydebank Town Hall between Wednesday, May 15 — Saturday, May 17.

Tickets cost £12 or £10 for concessions and can be obtained from cast members, the Mummers Theatre Group Facebook page, Clydebank’s Roma restaurant or by calling 07415811294.
