WEST Dunbartonshire MP Gemma Doyle has backed a new campaign to keep Scotland as part of the UK.

Gemma is offering her support to the Better Together campaign which argues for Scotland to remain part of the union with the rest of the United Kingdom.

Ms Doyle said: "I don't like the current Tory Government any more than anyone else in West Dunbartonshire, but whilst they are temporary, deciding to break Scotland off from the rest of the UK would be a permanent decision.

"The nationalists have not provided any of the substantive information that people are looking for.

"I want us to have a full and honest debate and I am delighted that Better Together is setting out the positive case for staying part of the UK."

Gemma will join forces with Shadow Health Secretary Jackie Baillie on Saturday (August 25) to launch the campaign at ASDA in Dumbarton.

Local Labour politicians also intend to write to over 10,000 people in West Dunbartonshire setting out why they support Scotland being part of the UK and inviting views.

Clydebank residents can follow the Better Together campaign, by visiting www.bettertogether.net or by following @UK_Together on twitter or by liking the Better Together Facebook page at www.facebook.com/bettertogetheruk.
