Punters take on 'One Dart'
IT was a case of 'all bets are on' at Betfred as darts master Peter Manley was challenged at his own game by customers last week.
Punters flocked to the bookies in Knightswood Shopping Centre on Friday in a bid to beat 'One Dart's' score, nine darts to his six with a free £2 bet.
Customers who had lady luck on their side were given a £5 bet as a prize.
Peter, who was once ranked number one in the Planet Darts Corporation (PDC) world rankings, was more than happy to come north of the border from his hometown of Carlisle, for the event.
He told the Post: "I've been working with Betfred for over eight years now doing these shop promotions and it's a great way of introducing new merchandise like the Goals Galore coupon and it's just a little bit of fun.
"If I'm really at my game the punters really don't win but they do get some good scores and we get some really good players come in to challenge me."
Peter began playing darts at the age of 12 and joined his local pub team at the age of 16.
His love for the game flourished and he went on to become a professional.
Now playing in the Professional Darts Corporation, the 59-year-old is perhaps most famous for his refusal to shake Phil Taylor's hand after losing 7-0 to him in the 2002 PDC World Championship final.
The feud has been long-running, but Peter hasn't let it get in the way of the sport.
He said: "The highlight of the career is playing at the premier league now in front of crowds of 10,000 people, it's fantastic."
