Airline expands route over town
ANOTHER large commercial airliner will fly over Whitecrook as a service to the middle east is increased.
Emirates Airline announced today (Tuesday) that due to high demand a night time flight to Dubai from Glasgow will be introduced.
A three-class Airbus A340-300 will set off from Glasgow at 9.30pm daily and return over Whitecrook at 8pm.
The current daytime service will continue.
Residents in Whitecrook were rocked last year when tiles flew from their roof in what was believed to be caused by a plane.
BAA Glasgow Airport paid for repairs to the roof but investigations into the incident by BAA were inconclusive as to what caused the damage.
Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: "Since its launch in 2004, Emirates' Dubai route has proved hugely successful with business and leisure passengers and its decision to introduce a second daily service is fantastic news for both Glasgow Airport and Scotland as a whole."
