School pupils are TV stars
CLYDEBANK High pupils are set to make their television debut on a BBC documentary.
Groups of children from first to fifth year wrote the script and presented the feature on the 136-year history of the Radnor Park school as part of a BBC2 Scotland programme, Clydeside Stories.
It features a collection of short films shot around Clydebank, Govan and Inverclyde, showing the upheaval caused by the closure of the River Clyde's old manufacturing industries, and how the towns affected are looking to the future.
Pupils at Clydebank High Media Group, an after-school club, took part in the programme while receiving assistance on technical production from BBC Scotland.
The programme shows the pupils as they wave goodbye to their old school and take their seats in the new school, which opened in August last year.
The history of Clydebank High is explored, with students telling of its role during the Second World War as an improvised bomb shelter, hospital and mortuary.
Interviews with pupils and teachers also feature.
The programme will be broadcast on BBC2 Scotland on Sunday at 6pm or can be viewed online at www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/learning/lab/projects/clyde/.
