Police came under attack while they were raiding an alleged drug factory.
Officers swooped on a house in Fleming Avenue, Whitecrook, on Monday afternoon and allegedly found 98 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £36,000.
Plants and growing equipment, including several large lamps, were seized from the address.
While officers were there, however, the windscreen of one of their vans was damaged after, what is believed to have been a wheelie bin, was thrown at it.
Residents say there was considerable disorder on the street outside the property while police were carrying out their searches.
One onlooker said: "It was all kicking off down in Fleming Avenue.
"Somebody has actually tried to smash the window of the police van while it was sitting there."
Officers were at the house from around 12.30pm and a 39-year-old man was arrested for alleged drug offences at 3pm.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the damage to the van but police enquiries are continuing.
Communities Inspector Alan Wright said: "Drug supply and misuse has a negative impact on our community and Monday's operation demonstrates our commitment to take action against those [allegedly] responsible.
"I would encourage residents in Clydebank to continue to come forward with information to support our activities."
