A MAN who behaved badly on a train journey between Dalmuir and Helensburgh has narrowly avoided going to prison.
Steven Gilmartin, 46, was convicted of assaulting a female ticket examiner by seizing her by the neck. The offence happened on November 22, 2017.
Gilmartin, of Glavie Road, Knightswood, tried to seize the ticket examiner’s money bag and repeatedly attempted to seize bags belonging to passengers on the train. He threw a bottle and was shouting and swearing.
At Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday, Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Gilmartin: “You have pulled things back together just enough to stop me sending you to prison. Most of your problems are caused by your addiction to alcohol.”
The sheriff set a further community payback review.
