AN attendee of a recent charity open day was “moved to tears” over how much support and help she received from the group.

ANYiSO, originally set up to support ethnic minorities, has now opened its doors to the whole community and celebrated last week with an open day for all.

Shulamite Ezechi established the charity in 2016 to encourage ethnic women and children to prevent them from becoming isolated.

Due to the success of the work carried out, the charity is now open to anyone and have re-located to a new premise – Blairdrum Neighbourhood Centre.

Community leader’s MP Carol Monaghan, MSP Bill Kidd and Bailie Malcolm Balfour made an appearance as well as Glasgow Girl Roza Salih.

And a lady who attended the charity’s English language classes and was accepted into college as a result was moved to tears.

Shulamite said: “We received lots of feedback from people who are glad the charity is open for everyone, irrespective of culture, beliefs and ethnicity.

“People were so happy about how friendly, and fun filled the event was with lots of food.”

Residents enjoyed the official opening of the premises, a toast by Mr Kidd, dance, the cutting of a cake, tombola, henna and face painting.

The charity also provides skill development workshops such as cooking and a free lunch club, and a foodbank operates on Wednesdays.
