All train services through Clydebank have been cancelled and drivers are facing major delays on the road network as Storm Ali hits the area.

A roof has also been ripped off a house in Robert Burns Street, Drumry.

All local ScotRail services have been cancelled and the company's website advises disruption expected until 8pm tonight.

Commuters are being advised to check services before travelling.

The disruption comes as Storm Ali batters the country with winds of more than 90mph.

Two trees have fallen in Clydebank on the A82 at Mountblow Road resulting in a road closure and major traffic disruption.

A82 Kilbowie Roundabout to Mountblow, Renton Road and Bank Street, Alexandria are currently closed.

Some drivers report being stuck in traffic for several hours.

Police and fire services are currently on scene.

John McMonagle who witnessed one of the falling trees said it "topppled over so easily".

He added: "I was taking a picture of the first one to post and inform people the road would be shut and saw the second one fall and it looked although it hit a car."

The Met Office issued an alert warning of “danger to life” with an amber warning in place across central Scotland between 8am and 5pm.

The whole of Scotland is covered by the yellow warning from 6am until 10pm on Wednesday.

Met office spokesman Grahame Madge said yesterday: "It's going to be particularly windy and the impact we would expect would be flying debris, and with trees still in full leaf they are more vulnerable to toppling."
