A POLICY has been rubber-stamped for granting extensions to licensing hours over the festive period in West Dunbartonshire.

At a meeting on Wednesday last week, the licensing board, chaired by Councillor Jim Brown, agreed a policy for granting applications for extended opening hours for the festive party season.

This year, the period for granting applications for extended hours runs from Friday, December 14, 2018, to Wednesday, January 2, 2019 (including January 2).

Licence-holders without significant entertainment – which includes public houses, hotel bars and members’ clubs – may apply for one additional hour during the festive period – with Hogmanay the exception, as applications for extended hours to 3am are allowed on the condition that last entry is 11am and the event is pre-ticketed.

Meanwhile, nightclubs may apply for extensions up to 4am.

Applications for extended hours outside of these hours may be required to be submitted to the board for their consideration – particularly if there are any objections.
