Last season saw Warrington Town make the NPLPD playoffs after finishing third in the league. It was the club’s highest finish in its history and there are high expectations from the team this term. Manager Paul Carden has been hard at work building his squad for the season and the former midfielder will be able to call upon several players who experienced great seasons a year ago.

Mitch Duggan, right-back

Warrington Guardian:

Mitch Duggan joined the Yellows this summer from Tranmere Rovers. Duggan brings experience to the club as he was a part of Rovers’ promotion playoff campaign last term. The right-back appeared in 11 National League matches logging over 700 minutes for Tranmere. Duggan has played with Warrington Town previously as he spent time with them from the Yellows.

Tony Gray, centre-forward

Warrington Guardian:

Tony Gray has scored goals wherever he has played football. The experienced forward joined Warrington Town in the summer of 2017 and was integral to the club’s third place finish last term. Gray has been in fine form during preseason. He tallied two goals in the Yellows’ win over Skelmersdale United.

James Caton, winger

Warrington Guardian:

James Caton may be the most exciting player in Warrington Town’s starting XI this term. The 24-year-old arrived on a month-long loan deal from Darlington. The move could be extended and provide manager Carden with even more attacking talent for the season. Caton has already played with Blackpool, Accrington Stanley, and Shrewsbury Town. Despite being in his mid-20s, Caton has a wealth of experience that can help Warrington Town get off to a great start in the NPLPD. On Heart, a betting website, you can even bet on how many goals he’ll score this season.

Ben Garrity, midfielder

Warrington Guardian:

Ben Garrity was signed by Warrington Town after manager Carden scouted him playing in Liverpool’s local leagues. Due to several departures of key players from last season, Garrity will be a major player in the Yellows’ midfield. Garrity was the club’s first signing this offseason and he is already showing his quality. The midfielder played provider in Warrington Town’s preseason win over Skelmersdale United as he picked up an assist.

Liam Hynes, midfielder

Warrington Guardian:

Due to the departures of midfielders Sean Williams, Will Hayhurst, and Bradley Barnes, the club will need others to step up to fill the void. Liam Hynes is one player who can do that. Signed in August 2017, the 24-year-old has the opportunity to play a big part in Carden’s team. Before joining the Yellows last summer, Hynes plied his trade with Southport.

Richard Brodie, centre-forward

Warrington Guardian:

Richard Brodie has seen his fair share of football clubs. The 31-year-old has played for 18 different teams during his career. Some may see that as a bad thing, but Warrington Town supporters should see the striker as a man in demand. Brodie has scored goals wherever he has gone and his CV is littered with competitive clubs such as Crawley Town, Macclesfield Town, Stockport, and more. The Yellows will be strong in front of goal with Brodie leading the line. According to Betfred, he’ll be the best striker of the club this season.
