The Glasgow 2018 European Championships have shared a video allowing viewers to witness the transformation of a tennis court into the newly built synchronised swimming venue.

The temporary pool filled with 330,000 gallons of water was specially constructed at Scotstoun Sports Campus for use in the nine synchronised swimming events in the competition.

The pool is 25x20mx3m in dimension and has capacity for up to 750 spectators.

Councillor Michael Cullen said: “When I first got told last year that Scotstoun was going to have a pool on the tennis courts I was in shock but what an impressive result indeed, the Glasgow 2018 visitors would never know.”

The synchronised swimming championships started today at 9am and will run for five days until Tuesday, August 7.

Of the 165 athletes that are competing, there are five sets of twins and one set of triplets.

The sport involves challenging routines choreographed to music and combines elements of swimming, dance and gymnastics.
