ORGANISERS have thanked the public for their support at a fundraiser in aid of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Ashleigh Kennedy organised the event after her daughter Faith benefitted from the care of the hospital, having two open heart surgeries in just her first six months of life.

A recent event at the Goodyear Social Club with nearly 200 people in attendance raised £2,000.

Faith’s congenital heart defect could prove life-limiting but Ashleigh, from Drumchapel, has said she draws inspiration from her “wee heart warrior”.

The 27-year-old, who also has two-year-old daughter Paige, told the Post: “We’d like to thank the Goodyear, a lot of businesses who donated, and the local SNP Anniesland branch who turned out as well.

“I was overwhelmed with the amount of people there and the support. It just shows people come together to help those in need.”

The money will be split between the cardiology 1E ward and intensive care.

Councillor Elspeth Kerr said: “Every table in the large function suite was filled with people from far and wide who came to support this cause.

“The tombola was a fantastic idea and I even won a lovely picture frame on it. There were loads of fantastic prizes donated by lots of generous people and businesses for the tombola, raffle and auction, in aid of this great cause.

“It was a great pleasure supporting this strong family as one of their local councillors and also as a family friend.”

Bailie Malcolm Balfour added: “All the family worked tirelessly in getting donations for the raffle and tombola. My heartfelt thanks go to all who donated, to all those who attended spending lots of money and to the Goodyear club for their support.

“The money raised from this event will be used by the wards mentioned for the benefit of the children. Wouldn’t it be great if this could be an annual event. Once again my grateful thanks to all involved.”
