A "devastated" Drumchapel charity shop raided of "vital" stock by thieves has appealed for new donations.

The incident that took place at Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s shop in the Drumchapel Shopping Centre has meant the shop has lost 120 items of donated womenswear.

The thieves, who are yet to be identified, got away with the stock worth more than £250 on Wednesday, July 11.

Hazel Lang, shop manager, said: “We are devastated that people would target a charity shop and steal items that the local community have so kindly donated.

“All the money raised in our shops helps to support people who struggle with the impact that a chest, heart or stroke condition has on their lives. Through our shops we are able to help support people to live their lives to the full and ensure No Life Half Lived in Scotland.”

The charity shop that was only opened on May 29 this year, is part of a community hub located in the shopping centre focused on providing support and services so that everyone in the area affected by chest heart and stroke conditions can live life to the full.

Hazel added: “The Drumchapel community have been extremely supportive since we opened our community hub in May.

"We would like to appeal to the locals now for any donations of womenswear that they can spare to help us recover some of the money lost because of the theft.”

Anyone with donations is asked to hand them in at the community hub at 16 Dunkenny Square or call 0141 230 4688.

Police are in contact with the shop over the incident.
