A CLYDEBANK man who has remained out of trouble after he was caught carrying a knife in public has been told by a sheriff that “the signs are good” for his future.

Michael Doherty, 22, of West Court, appeared for sentence at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Wednesday, after being convicted of carrying a knife in public at Crescent Court, Dalmuir, on December 9, 2017.

Defence lawyer Kenny Clark said: “He is assisting at a soup kitchen for homeless people.”

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Doherty: “Your history is not very good but the future is looking better. The signs are good, but that’s down to you.

“If I see a good report before me when you return then I will allow your community payback order to continue.”

Sentence was deferred until August 22 for Doherty to be of good behaviour.
