A MAN damaged a parked vehicle in Clydebank by throwing a cup at its windscreen.

But a court hearing was told Ryan Ramsay had “turned his life around” after committing the offence in Dumbarton Road on November 4 last year.

The 23-year-old’s solicitor told Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Friday that his client had got himself a job and secured work with the same firm for his father and brother.

Ramsay, formerly of Dumbarton Road but now living in Ronaldsay Place in Cumbernauld, appeared in the dock to be sentenced on a charge of wilfully or recklessly destroying or damaging property.

He had also pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to being in possession of cocaine and heroin in Mountblow Road, Clydebank on January 3, 2017.

Referring to a social work report on his client, Ramsay’s solicitor, Mr Sweeney, said: “The fundamental issue identified is that he has turned himself around.

“He has accepted the guidance of addiction services and has progressed to the point that he has gained employment for himself and has obtained employment, with the same firm for his father and brother.

“The difficulties he had were very closely attached to his lifestyle choices and in particular the use of nefarious drugs, but everyone now seems to be benefitting from his endeavours and he does appear to be equipping himself with the tools required to address his issues.”

Ramsay was fined £225 on the drug charges and a further £225, plus a £75 compensation order, for the damage to the car windscreen.
