Edinbarnet Editors returned from our Easter holidays last month ready for our last term of the year.

With only weeks to go until the end of the year there is a lot to do and a lot to fit in.

The primary 7s recently returned from their trip to Kingswood Outdoor Centre. It was a two-and-a-half-hour drive there and they went on a bus. Our P7s slept in the Hawthorn dorm at the top right corner of the camp.

The food was delicious and they had an amazing time. There was a general consensus that the beds were amazing. P7 had a plethora of activities to do at Kingswood which included high ropes, Jacob’s ladder, nightline, abseiling and much more.

There was a lot of problem solving involved too. We had to work in teams and learned to develop skills that helped us solve some of the problems at Kingswood.

Meanwhile, back at school one of our professional maths teachers, Mr Clark, started a YouTube channel to help pupils and families develop a better understanding of maths.

The YouTube channel is called “Hit Maths out the Ballpark with Mr Clark”. He has gained lots of followers and subscribers. Mr Clark’s videos will help kids and parents understand times tables, adding and lots of other maths concepts that we are doing in school.

During the Easter holidays there has been some upgrading around the school, especially in the P1 playground. Our playground has been tidied, painted and filled with new resources for taking our learning outside.

Learning sheds have been set up for lots of different subjects and inside them are resources for learning. The next plan is to upgrade the upper school playground.

Miss McGregor has asked the pupils to come up with some ideas that the teachers could use when they make plans for the big playground.

P7 also started their cycling proficiency this month. They had to bring their own bikes into school and make sure they had the right equipment such as helmets.

It’s all about the practical skills involved in cycling and how to cycle on today’s roads.

They did it in the playground and it runs for a couple of months. They bring their bikes to school in the morning and use them in the afternoons.

Edinbarnet Editors will be back next month.
