It looks set to be a laugh a minute this Friday as a host of top comedians come together at Clydebank Town Hall.

And it’s all been organised for a good cause, as Duntocher man Brian Mooney looks to raise money for St Margaret of Scotland Hospice.

Brian began planning the event after attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year and has asked a local man to be the headline act.

He told the Post: “I was appearing in my show ‘Bawheid’ when I went along to see another show called ‘Smart Funny’.

“I hadn’t heard of the comedian in the show, but it turned out to be a young comedian from Clydebank - Marc Jennings.

“I thought he was excellent, and after the show asked him if he’d be interested in doing a show for the hospice.

“He readily agreed, and it was only later that I discovered that he was making a real name for himself.

“He was a nominee for the BBC New Comedy awards, and a finalist in the Scottish Comedian of the Year competition.

“He has gone on to appear in comedy nights up and down the country and was recently in BBC Scotland’s Breaking the News.

“Shortly afterwards I was recommended another up and coming comedian in Jordan Wistuba, and he too was only too willing to lend his talents to the night.”

To add another dimension to the show, Brian persuaded a well known singer-songwriter from Clydebank - Sophie Rogers - to get involved.

The artist has performed throughout the UK and in Europe, the US and Canada.

Brian is confident Sophie will be “a real treat” for the audience.

He explained that he wanted to celebrate the talent in Clydebank as they use the event to raise vital funds for the hospice.

He said: “I thought putting Clydebank’s best young talent together with an old guy like me was a good idea.

“It will give people a good laugh and do something for a good cause.

“I’m going to host it and do a bit of stand up myself. It’s a a bit of original songs and stories. I hesitate to say they are funny but they are.

“People will have a really good night and it’s some cash for a real good cause.”

Tickets are still available and cost £10. They can be purchased by contacting Brian on 01389 380283 or brian.mooney2@ntlworld.com.
