DETECTIVES are investigating a housebreaking and attempted housebreaking in Park Road – both of which happened on Sunday.

Just after 5am, officers were called to a house on the Dalmuir street, after a householder had disturbed a man who had broken into his home.

The suspect made off from the house with a bag which was later recovered nearby.

At around 10.30am on Sunday morning, a further report was made of an attempted housebreaking in Park Road, where they discovered that someone had attempted to gain entry to a locked garage.

However, the perpetrator was unsuccessful.

Detective Sergeant Neil Allison of Clydebank police office said: “Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the Park Road area and are gathering any CCTV footage from the area, in our efforts to trace who is responsible for these incidents.

“I would ask anyone who was in the Park Road area from late Saturday evening into Sunday morning who may have seen someone acting suspiciously, or anything out of the ordinary to come forward to police.

“Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the public and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.

“I would also ask householders to be extra vigilant, and ensure that doors, windows and any sheds or garages are kept secure.”

Anyone with information that might assist the investigation should contact Clydebank police office on 101, quoting reference number 1007 of May 13.
