LINNVALE Primary School was hit by mindless vandals recently – causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

The school’s polytunnel was torn up and the shed’s window smashed at a time between Friday, April 27 and Monday, April 30.

The garden has been targeted by vandals on a number of occasions recently.

Lindsay Thomas, the school’s head teacher, said staff, parents and children are all “disappointed” following the incident.

She said: “We were fortunate to receive external funding to purchase the polytunnel and the metal shed. The damage to both is thousands of pounds.

“The project is a real community effort as we have parent volunteers who come in and water the fruit and vegetables over the holidays.

“The children don’t only grow the fruit and vegetables but also work with the staff in the school kitchen to cook the produce. It’s a practical way for them to find out where their food comes from.

“We’re all disappointed but particularly the children who really enjoy taking part in the project.”

Police have appealed for anyone with information is asked to contact them on 101.
