A CLYDEBANK teenager who flouted a court order by being outside her bail address during the hours of a curfew may be “just about to turn a corner” after committing a series of offences, a court has heard.

Joleene Thompson appeared in court on Friday for sentencing after pleading guilty to breaching bail by being in Crescent Court in Dalmuir on October 4, when she should have been at her bail address in Clydebank’s Alexander Street.

Referring to the contents of a social work report on her client, defence solicitor Gail Campbell told Dumbarton Sheriff Court: “I won’t say I’m pleasantly surprised, but what does seem clear from the report is that there appears to be hope.

“She presented this morning as very calm and coherent. She had intelligent questions to ask and she has realistic expectations.

“She is not in any way flippant regarding the situation she finds herself in.

“She has managed, at a young age, to accrue significant appearances before the court. But it would appear the penny may finally have dropped that she cannot deal with her alcohol problem herself, no matter how good her intentions are.”

The case was continued until May 3 to be dealt with alongside other matters.
