FAIFLEY residents are coming together on Sunday to clean up their community.

The event follows last year’s effort when volunteers collected more than 75 bags of rubbish on the Knowes between Faifley and Hardgate.

Organisers of the litter pick say the area is often neglected and are urging people to come forward and lend a hand.

The campaign, called Clean up the Knowes, has been organised by environment group Clydebelt, Faifley Community Council and West Dunbartonshire Greenspace.

Caroline MacDonald, the secretary of Faifley Community Council, said the event is a chance to tidy up an area used by young people and parents travelling to and from school.

She said: “The more people who help the cleaner our community will be, and it will hopefully encourage people to start using the bins in our community instead of throwing it away.”

The clean-up will be held between 10am and 2pm, with residents meeting in the car park beside the Westhill Hotel in Hardgate and then at 10.30am near St Joseph’s Primary on Faifley Road.

Litter pickers and gloves will be supplied.
