CARPETRIGHT in Drumchapel will close its doors as the company undergoes restructuring.

The store at Great Western Retail Park is one of 92 underperforming stores in the UK set to be given the axe.

The move will also see 300 jobs cut across the country as Carpetright looks to complete a company voluntary arrangement.

The arrangement should allow it to shut the worst performing stores and request rent concessions on more than 100 sites.

The chain has been burdened with struggling outlets, which have made rental costs more difficult to shoulder.

There has been a lower demand for carpets and new flooring with fewer people moving home.

Many stores are also finding it difficult to adapt from in-store shopping to online, affecting revenue.

The Parkhead Forge store is also set to close, however, the Dumbarton outlet has been spared.
