A team from Edinbarnet Primary “stole the show” to take gold at the West Dunbartonshire P6 Rugby final last Wednesday.

The pupils had previously shrugged off the challenge of other school teams in Clydebank to head to the final along with Clydemuir Primary, the other top side from the area.

The two schools played each other and took on the top two school teams from the Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Rugby Festivals, Aitkenbar and St Michael’s, and St Mary’s and Gartocharn, respectively, for their chance at glory.

The final was held at Vale of Leven Academy and each of the schools took on each other in a round robin event of games lasting 14 minutes.

All of the teams involved played exceptionally well, but Edinbarnet were runaway winners after clinching victory in all of their games.

The event was run as part of the West Dunbartonshire School Games organised by Active Schools.

Emma McCluskey, one of the Active Schools coordinators in West Dunbartonshire, said: “What an atmosphere at the rugby final!

“Great performances from all schools and a huge well done to all our six finalists. Edinbarnet stole the show winning all five of their games!”
