A YOKER man threatened to murder his noisy neighbours after losing his temper over their umpteenth party.
Gary Strachan, of Hawick Street, took a metal pole to lend some force to his request to keep the racket down.
It was after midnight during the early hours of a Thursday morning when the 38-year-old said he would “f****** kill” the students. The police were called following his threat.
At Glasgow Sheriff Court last week, Strachan pleaded guilty to having a metal pole within his possession at an address in Dumbarton Road on July 6, 2017.
In defence it was explained that the students had moved in a few months previously and had been holding regular parties to all hours of the morning.
Strachan’s partner had asked them to keep the noise down to which the accused heard a commotion and grabbed a broken brush handle in reaction.
Strachan’s lawyer stated that it was a “stupid move on his part” and agreed that he should have dealt with it in a more mature way.
Sheriff Shona Gilroy sentenced Strachan to a community payback order with 80 hours of unpaid work to be completed within four months.
