Chris Paisley cemented his fine start to the WGC-Mexico Championship, by retaining his six-under-par scoreline midway through the second round.

Englishman Paisley had carded an impressive first-round 65 to sit second behind former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen on Thursday.

And when he stepped back onto the Chapultepec Golf Club course the next day he managed to carry that six-under-par score to the halfway point of his second round.

America’s Xander Schauffele raced to the top of the leaderboard, sharing first place with Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat, with both men on nine under par.

South Africa’s Oosthuizen dropped four places as he held onto his seven-under score thanks to a second-round of par.
