HEAVY snow could see roads in Clydebank become blocked with snow as the Met Office declared a red warning for the area.

Scotland has been hit by a wintry blast, dubbed "the Beast from the East" and travel has been disrupted throughout West Dunbartonshire.

The weather is expected to worsen between 3pm today and 10am tomorrow morning, and people are told to expect long delays and further cancellations to bus and rail services.

Clydebank Post:

There could also be interruptions to power supplies, and people are urged to take extreme caution when out on the roads.

Meanwhile West Dunbartonshire Council has said despite the poor weather, teams are still trying to continue services such as refuse collection.

An update on the local authority's Facebook read: "Despite the poor weather our teams are still trying to collect bins due to be emptied today. Areas that are higher up in West Dunbartonshire are posing difficult to reach.

"For those areas we cannot reach today, we will collect your bins as soon as conditions permit.

"Residents are asked to leave their bins out at the normal collection place until the collection is made."
