IT was all hands on deck to ensure St Mary's Primary School nativity show went ahead without a hitch this week.

The Duntocher school's show welcomed in parents, friends and more than 60 senior citizens in the area to enjoy their annual production and concert.

Head teacher Marie Guthrie told the Post: "P2 and P3 pupils at St Mary’s performed ‘A King is Born’, for parents and also for senior citizens in the local community.

"A King is Born tells the story of the Nativity with a humorous slant on the story. It was a huge cast with all pupils in P2 and P3 playing the many characters such as: a bossy Caesar and his census takers; camels and kings; shepherds and sheep; angels and stars and of course Mary and Joseph.

"Our P7 pupils entertained the audience with some carols and our P1 pupils stole the show with some traditional favourites of carols and songs.

"All of the children were just fantastic, helping our school community get into the spirit of Christmas.

"We are very grateful to our tremendous audiences who have also supported the school in Advent fundraising for West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare and further fundraising on behalf of St Vincent de Paul organisation for the Ozanam Centre for homelessness in Glasgow."

Councillor Lawrence O'Neill, who was amongst the guests, added: "I'm always delighted to be invited to the Christmas concert and it was a great show. They did the senior citizens proud. The staff and parent council did a wonderful job."
