A £8.2 MILLION nursing home is finally to start construction in Clydebank and create around 100 jobs.

The two-storey, 75-bedroom facility on Cochno Road in Hardgate – dubbed Kingsacre Luxury Suites – was approved in 2014 after an earlier similar development was given the go-ahead nearly a decade ago.

Morrison Community Care Group announced the Hardgate home would be their third and open in early 2019 as they welcomed the first residents to a new Milngavie facility, Abbotsford Luxury Suites.

Paul Sokhi is managing director of Morrison Community Care Group, while his parents remain board members and shareholders.

Mr Sokhi told the Post the centre will offer 24-hour residential, nursing and dementia care and the waiting list will open July 1, 2018.

He said: “Our 29 years experience in the industry has shown us that people want to have fun in their old age and we want to encourage this through design and environment.

“By encouraging people out of the often-lonely surroundings of their own homes into an environment where there is a vibrant community we hope to give residents and their families an extra lease of life.

“The Morrison Community Care Group is delighted that they will be able to provide the local community with around 100 new jobs as they begin to recruit for the new suites.”

Allied Irish Bank is putting in £4.9m towards the construction and Stuart Wardle, the bank’s relationship manager, said: “We’ve worked with Morrison Community Care Group for 20 years and had no hesitation about financing their two newest care home facilities. It is an established operator with an excellent track record at caring for patients – something we take into consideration when working with healthcare clients.”
