A TEENAGER who barged her way into a Drumry flat and threatened to smash up the property has been punished with a slap on the wrists.

Courtney Bodwick turned up drunk at the property in Peel View and ignored several requests from the householder to leave.

The 18-year-old was brought to Dumbarton Sheriff Court for sentencing  after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour on April 21 last year.

Fiscal depute Emma Thomson told the court: “The witness was within her home with her friend at 1am when the accused attended, intoxicated. She invited herself in under the premise she was doing make-up for the witness’s upcoming wedding.

“The witness asked her to leave multiple times, but the accused ignored this and retrieved a drink from the kitchen.

“The witness threatened to call police, which agitated the accused, and she called the witness a ‘grass’. Thereafter the accused threatened her stating ‘I’ll kick your c*** in’ and ‘I’ll smash your house up’.”

Bodwick, listed in court papers as living at Strathaven Road in Hamilton, eventually left before the householder contacted police the following day.

Bodwick’s solicitor said his client was also the subject of three cases calling at Hamilton Sheriff Court, in which the sheriff there planned to make her the subject of a community payback order with social work supervision over three years.

He said court proceedings had led to her losing her home, but that social workers hoped to secure a new tenancy for her in the next few days.

The agent told Sheriff John Hamilton: “She has been in custody on remand since October 31, so she has effectively served a two-month sentence.

“She clearly requires a great deal of assistance which is why such a length of order is being considered.”

Bodwick was admonished and dismissed.
