CLYDEBANK police are warning the public to be on alert for a bogus cleaner.
Officers reported a man in his late 40s attempted to perform gutter cleaning in Dalmuir without authorisation on Monday, November 27.
The incident happened about 2pm and the man was described as 5ft10ins tall, stocky build with dark hair and wearing fluorescent yellow jacket and carrying a metal ladder.
Police are treating the incident as doorstep crime after the man tried to convince an elderly resident to let him perform unnecessary cleaning of gutters and repeatedly knocked on her door after being told no.
Residents are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police on 101.
