Eight teams vying to be West Dumbartonshire's netball champs competed in a fast and furious tournament at the Meadow Sports Centre.

The festival of netball for Primary 5-7 pupils in the Vale of Leven area was part of West Dunbartonshire School Games (WDSG) 2017-18.

Teams from Bonhill, Christie Park, Gartocharn, Haldane, Jamestown, Lennox, Levenvale and Renton primary schools took part.

Excellent skills and sportsmanship were on on display which produced a fantastic morning of sport.

Scores were recorded at this event and will also be recorded at the next two netball festivals taking place in January and May.

The results will then be collated and the top two schools from the Vale of Leven area will progress to the WDSG netball final where they will compete against the top two schools from Dumbarton and Clydebank to be crowned WD netball champions 2017-18.

Active Schools have thanked Michelle and Nicola from Dumbarton Harp Netball Club for umpiring at this month's event and the staff of the Meadow Centre for assisting with the set-up.

The netball festival was just one of dozens of WDSG events that will be delivered by Active Schools and Sports Development for primary and secondary schools across the whole of West Dunbartonshire.

Pupils will get the chance to take part in a wide range of sports including basketball, cross-country, tennis and swimming, both competitively and non-competitively and gain WDSG points for their schools.
