FOOTBALLING legends will descend on Drumchapel next month in a bid to gave homeless people a merry Christmas.

Alan Rough and Andy Goram will enter the hot seat to answer fans’ burning questions about their sporting career and time spent with Rangers during the special event, which is to be held at the Good Year Social Club on December 1.

The pair will also tell their funniest tales from their playing days while Drumchapel funnyman Rob Kane will host the event and provide some comedic entertainment for guests.

Rob told the Post: “When I was younger I experienced situations where I could have found myself homeless but I was lucky to have people and a great support system around me.

“It’s not a choice, anyone can find themselves in that situation.

“It’s easy to walk past someone on the street and think the worst of them but it could be anyone sitting there.”

The night’s aim is to raise enough cash for Glasgow City Mission to provide Christmas dinners to the city’s homeless.

It costs £7.14 to feed a homeless person on Christmas Day, meaning the event needs to raise more than £700 to each their target.

Former Drumchapel High student Rob has held Christmas charity drives for the past few years - opting to raise cash for the Drumchapel Foodbank or to provide school uniforms for children in low income families - but this year, it was a chat with a pal in a Drumchapel pub that spurred on his decision to help this city’s homeless.

The 34-year-old said: “I was speaking to a pal in The Butty who said he had been affected by homelessness and it sort of struck a chord.

“I thought this would be brilliant in doing something for the people of Drumchapel. They might not have had something that prestigious on their doorstep before.”

Tickets to the event - which kicks off at 7pm - cost £20. To purchase a ticket, or for more information contact Rob on 07843444205.
