A CLYDEBANK group is hoping to find a director and volunteers to help them start a new community choir.

Neighbourhood Networks supports residents with learning and physical disabilities, visual impairment, mental health and young people in transitional groups.

A major show is planned for next July a the Mitchell Theatre in Glasgow and the Clydebank group wants to contribute community singers towards it.

Angels and Aeroplanes 3 – One Big Drama is the charity’s third event after an initial fashion show in commemoration of a Govan member who died of cancer.

The variety show on July 28 will include Bollywood dancers, a band, a dramatisation and more to reflect the diversity in communities working with the charity.

Dee McIntosh, West Dunbartonshire manager for Neighbourhood Networks, told the Post they hope to bring together those with disabilities but also others so everyone can learn from each other.

She said: “It’s really to establish a community choir to participate in the main event in July next year. Anybody is welcome if they’re wanting to be involved in something slightly different and give their time to project. And it’s fun, with an end result.”

Neighbourhood Networks is working with Morison Memorial Church to assemble the choir and are looking for singers and an experienced coach.

Ms McIntosh added: “Our work is person centred and firmly rooted in enhancing diversity, creating social justice and ensuring that every person is able to lead the life of their choice in order to become all they can and want to be.

“Our aims and objectives are to work in local communities to support and empower even more people who could benefit from a flexible model of support.

“It is proposed that the choir will help people link in with each other, build new relationships and friendships and have an opportunity to create something positive together.

“We are interested in linking in with people of all ages and abilities and hopefully the choir will build its own identity beyond Angels and Aeroplanes.”
