A CHILDREN’S play area is looking for help to prepare for a visit from Santa next month.

The Hobbit House at Drumchapel Family Learning Centre in Kilcloy Avenue has damaged windows and a door and also needs a generator in order to run a planned grotto on December 19.

Twice this year the house has been targeted by vandals and previously in the past couple years.

The centre’s France O’Neil said the children are meant to use the space regularly for outdoor learning but they can’t until the space is fixed.

She said: “It’s very small windows we need fixed. We’re looking for a glazzier and a small generator for Santa.

“We had a generator before but we don’t have the funds to do that - we had already paid £500 for the reindeer and we just want to fix it and have some heating for Santa.”

The Hobbit House cost £180 and was built in 2010 with the help of some of the parents.

Police spoke to youths at the site earlier in November but established no criminality.

Anyone who would like to assist the centre is asked to call 0141 944 5455.
