A SOFT play area in Clydebank has been found in breach of its planning permission for failing to put in a pedestrian crossing they say can’t be installed.
The i-Play Soft Play centre in Clydebank Business Park had been trying to change a condition of their moving to the site in 2016 that requires a road crossing.
Owners Neil and Catrine Halls said they are unable to put in a crossing because they can’t get agreement from the landowner opposite them.
Last week’s planning committee was presented with an update since the Scottish Government’s planning reporter knocked back i-Play’s appeal against the crossing condition.
Mr Halls stood in the public gallery to make a statement but legal officer Nigel Ettles said he had already refused a request to address the committee.
He said: “He had no right to speak. The committee has never allowed an unsuccessful applicant to speak.”
Committee chairman Councillor Jim Finn added: “I’m sorry, he said no.”
There was no debate from councillors and the motion was passed. The firm, which employs 20 people, will now be served with a breach notice.
Mr Halls told the Post this week he had not received a breach notice from the council as yet and could not say what specific action they would take in response.
But he added: “We will fight any action that they chose to take and hope that common sense might actually prevail.”
