A DALMUIR plumber and heating engineer is celebrating as he picked up a new top of the range car after being named Screwfix Britain’s Top Tradesperson.

Lluis Dalmau took home the title in July, beating out more than 5,000 industry workers from around the UK at a finale ceremony in Wembley Stadium.

The owner of LCD Heating and Gas Services said business is booming since he was awarded the title and now he’s taken the keys to a brand new Toyota Hilux worth £32,000 to help managing his increasing workload.

Lluis said: “It is an absolute dream come true being crowned Britain’s Top Tradesperson by Screwfix. I was so shocked when they told me I had won. My business has always been my pride and joy, so to have been awarded this title means so much to me.

“Since the competition, my customer base has grown more than I could ever imagine, thanks to Screwfix. The award has not only given me the recognition, but also the confidence to take my business to the next level.

“I am so excited to receive this prize – not only will the vehicle be more reliable, but it will provide a professional impression when I arrive at a job.”

As previously reported in the Post, the 42-year-old only put in an entry at a Screwfix on the odd chance.

The father of two started his career when he was 16 and struck out with his own firm in 2009.

Former Knightswood Primary and Secondary pupil Lluis told the Post doing a good job is what drives him forward, and the award is really for the whole team, including Steven Dilworth and apprentice Ryan Leitch.

Gareth Matthews, from Toyota, added: “At Toyota, we are really proud to be a part of Screwfix’s ‘Britain’s Top Tradesperson’ competition, and are honoured to award this brand new vehicle to a worthy winner. “Lluis provides such a stand-out service to his customers, and we hope this vehicle will put him in good stead to grow his already successful service.”

The nationwide competition for Britain’s Top Tradesperson will return again in 2018.
