A MAN convicted of obtaining almost £11,000 in benefits he was not entitled to will have to wait another month to learn his fate.

Derek Low, of Wirran Place, Yoker, previously pleaded guilty to obtaining £10,923.83 in income support between October 2006 and January 2012 at properties in Kilbowie Road, Clydebank, Wirran Place, and Essenside Avenue, Drumchapel.

Not guilty pleas were accepted on charges that the 37-year-old obtained £337.50 in jobseekers allowance and £5,988.76 in employment and support allowance.

Last week at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, defence solicitor Tom Brown insisted a proceeds of crime action had been taken against his client and “everything was taken”.

He said: “The crown has taken Mr Low’s bank account.”

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry ordered proof be provided for a further hearing on November 17 when background reports would also be prepared.
