THE search is on for Scotland’s most flexible and family-friendly employer – a title currently held by West Dunbartonshire Council.

As reported in the Post, the authority won the prize as best public sector employer from organisation Family Friendly Working Scotland earlier this year.

Now in its fourth year, the awards are looking for employers of all sizes to put themselves forward.

Lisa Gallagher, programme director, said: “The Scottish Top Employers for Working Families awards are totally unique. They are the only business awards which specifically recognise employers that have created a great flexible and family friendly working culture.

“The awards are a great platform for people-centred businesses to get recognition for their innovative approach and to be recognised as trail-blazers in their field.”

The winners will be announced at an event in Glasgow next March. One of the speakers at the awards will be Petra Wetzel, founder and MD of West Brewery off Glasgow Green.

She said: “The only way to get women involved in business more, in whatever level of the organisation, is to make it easier for women to be mums, wives or partners and employees. It is really about having a holistic approach. We don’t have just one role in life, we have several roles and the only way to make somebody able to fulfil all those roles is to make them work in harmony.”

Entries must be in by November 8 at familyfriendlyworkingscotland.org.uk.
