KILBOWIE Primary served a selection of Scotland's culture last week – and a group of international visitors certainly had a taste for it.

Teachers from Italy, Spain, Romania, Poland, Ireland and Turkey were at the school all last week as part of an Erasmus project, which promotes better communication skills to help young people apply for jobs later in life.

Kilbowie’s focus has been on maths and the BEES project (basic employability and entrepreneurship skills) which runs until summer 2018.

As well as the guests, the performances were watched by Provost William Hendrie and other councillors from across the area.

Co-ordinator Gillian Docherty told the Post: “The children from P3-7 demonstrated Scottish culture for the foreign visitors, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“The teachers were incredibly impressed.

"The show went really well and the children put a lot of hard work and effort into it.

“The soloists were very confident and all children took part with pride.

“The foreign visitors also enjoyed visiting local sites in Clydebank as well as Glasgow.

"They learned a lot about good practice in maths and will take their new learning back to their own countries and try to introduce what they have learned with their own class.”

She added: “The pupils and staff at Kilbowie Primary are enjoying the experience of the Erasmus project.”
