CLYDEBANK-BASED youth charity Y Sort It benefitted from proceeds from the recent Dumbarton Police Office Open Day.

In total, the event raised more than £1,500, which was also shared with Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

The doors of the area headquarters opened to members of the public who were invited along to meet police dogs, take a peek inside some of the emergency vehicles, get behind the decks with a DJ sessions run by SKapade Studios, and even have the chance of meeting mascots – including police mascot Penguin Pete.

Chief Superintendent Hazel Hendren, local policing commander, told the Post: “I am absolutely delighted with the funds that were raised and I know that it will get put to good use.

“The officers who were there with the local community had great fun despite the typical Scottish weather, with sunshine one minute and rain the next. This did not spoil anyone’s fun and I am pleased it was such a success.

“Thank you to everyone who came along to support the day and those who donated raffle prizes.”

Jonathan Clegg, community fundraiser at CHAS, said: “The vital funds raised by local fundraising events help us to keep the joy alive for families across Scotland facing the most difficult time imaginable by ensuring that no matter how short their time together may be, it is filled with happiness.”
