ASDA has insisted its Clydebank store is not consulting on redundancies as the firm looks to cut costs.

Clydebank was listed in a social media post from the GMB union as a store where consultation with staff was being carried out on possible cuts.

The Guardian reported the “informal process” at 59 stores was for staff to work in different departments when required, rather than cuts.

The Post was unable to reach the GMB union in Scotland for comment. The union on social media states: “If you are approached to discuss a reduction in hours please contact your GMB Representative immediately.”

A spokesman for Asda said they were having “conversations” about changes to rotas, “which is standard practice in a retail environment”.
