VACANT grass space in Radnor Park will be turned into a new community garden, it has been announced.
Clydebank Housing Association (CHA) has been granted permission to transform the land in front of the Leven View high flats into a growing space for residents.
The organisation got funding from the Scottish Government’s climate challenge fund (CCF) back in April towards the garden and expanding their existing growing programme at Centre81 in Whitecrook.
There will also be a cycling aspect to promote wellbeing and sustainable transport. CHA has also been able to hire a green project officer, Andy McCann, and community gardener, Donald Campbell, thanks to the funding.
Sharon Keenan, chief executive of CHA, said: “Of course all of this will not just benefit our Radnor Park residents by providing a community growing space for them to get actively involved in but it will also go some way to address climate change by reducing carbon emissions in the process.
“We have already received interest from some of our Radnor Park residents to get involved and we hope that this will increase and extend to other members of the community.”
