A YOKER man, who was caught in possession of class A drugs, has escaped a jail sentence by the “narrowest of margins”.
Brett Wain, 24, of Glen Crescent, pleaded guilty at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday. He admitted possessing cocaine, with the intent to supply to others on February 11 outside John Brown’s Public House, Chalmers Street.
His lawyer said the social workers’ report was in favour of the court imposing a community payback order.
Sheriff William Gallacher told Wain: “With some hesitation and by the narrowest of margins I will not impose a custodial sentence. There is a difficulty with drugs in this community and you are party to that process.”
The sheriff ordered Wain to carry out 180 hours unpaid work within 10 months.
