PHASE two of planting works in the Kilpatrick Hills has begun.

Forest Enterprise Scotland and Highfield Forestry Limited work will complement the existing forest in a bid to help to create better connectivity for the environment and visitors to the hills.

Works will begin at the north end of the site, near Auchineden and will gradually move towards the south over the coming months.

Deer fencing will be undertaken over the summer with ground preparation and planting works, commencing by mid to late August.

Tree planting will see a combination of native broadleaved species, such as Aspen, Willow, Rowan and Downy Birch.

The work forms part of a seven year project to carry out woodland creation over three phases in the Kilpatrick Hills, delivering the approved land management plan for the area.

Neighbours of the site are encouraged to contact Fred Drion at f.drion@highfieldforestry.com with any issues relating to the works.
