FAMILY and friends of a Whitecrook teenager who died in an accident last month have laid him to rest.

Aaron Keenan was only 19 when he was discovered near Kilpatrick station on June 25 and the community united in a sea of green to give the Celtic-daft youth a fitting sendoff.

A funeral mass was held this morning for the former St Peter the Apostle High pupil at St Margaret's Chapel in Whitecrook.

Speaking before he led the service, Canon Tartaglia said: "The truth is people are stunned and deeply saddened and feel so sorry for his parents and family.

"He was a lovely boy with a lovely nature and people he was confident around knew the real boy and what a nice nature he had. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him.

"I know how much his family will miss him and how much they love him. They are heartbroken. I'm glad he is safe."

Both the mass and a service on Thursday evening were packed as hundreds wanted to pay tribute to Aaron.

Last week, mum Gillian Connelly told the Post: "The whole of Clydebank shared Aaron. He was so polite.

"He was full of life. He loved Celtic, he loved all his family, all his friends. He loved to go out with his friends.

"Aaron would never pass anybody he knew - he would stop and talk to them. He was just a normal wee boy."

A crowdfunding page set up after Aaron died has collected almost £3,700 with an initial target of £1,000.
