A WOMAN has been arrested in connection with an incident at a Clydebank shop at the weekend.

Around 5.30pm on June 18, a 20-year-old woman is alleged to have made racial comments and a 21-year-old man is alleged to have assaulted staff in the shop in Webster Street.

In a separate incident, police are hunting a man and woman over a suspected racist attack on a Mountblow Road shop owner around 9.30pm on June 17.

Police also reported two teenagers for allegedly throwing eggs at a Duntocher shop and making alleged racist comments.

The girls, aged 13 and 15, were charged in front of their parents after the incident on June 12 at the shop in Dalgleish Avenue. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Officers in Clydebank said they take all reports of hate crime seriously and urged any victims or witnesses to contact them.

Inspector David Quinn, of Clydebank police, said: "More than ever in these uncertain times we want those who are victims of hate crime to feel confident in the belief that we’ll take your reports seriously, protect you and make sure you get all the support you need.

"If you are a witness or a victim of hate crime or feel vulnerable please contact someone to report it. More people are reporting hate crime than ever before but it is still significantly underreported."
