A THIEF who stole two motorbikes from a property in Yoker has been locked up while he awaits his fate.

Antonio Ross was remanded in custody after pleading guilty to stealing the bikes from Clydeholm Terrace in October 2015.

Ross, 22, appeared in court on Friday, when his solicitor admitted that an argument for allowing his client to remain free pending sentence was “very thin”.

Describing the circumstances of the theft, fiscal depute Martina McGuigan told Dumbarton Sheriff Court that Ross had been identified on CCTV footage from nearby Newshot Court at the time of the incident.

Ms McGuigan said: “The footage captures the accused entering, and then exiting in possession of a motorbike which matched the description of that stolen from the locus.

“The accused was observed in the company of an unidentified male in possession of a second motorbike, which also matches the description of that stolen from the locus.”

Ms McGuigan said the owner of the property had left it secure on the evening of October 27 before going to stay the night with family in Ayr.

She said the owner had been contacted by a second witness who lives nearby and had discovered that the property was no longer secure.

“The witness went to Clydeholm Terrace, observed damage and contacted police and the owner to make them aware,” she added. “There was full recovery of the items without damage.”

Ross, who has previous convictions for violent behaviour and breaching bail, also admitted failing to appear at a hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court in connection with the theft on April 26 this year.

He also faces sentencing for shouting, swearing and being outwith his bail address at Park Court in Dalmuir in the early hours of on April 26, when he was found in Vanguard Street. Sheriff Maxwell Hendry deferred sentence until June 2 for a supplementary social work report and remanded Ross in custody.
