A DALMUIR woman who embezzled more than £1,800 from a local funeral director has repaid the sum, a court has been told.

Jenna Corr, 31, had previously admitted embezzling £1,822 from Co-op Funeral Services in Sylvania Way South and another branch in Maryhill Road in Glasgow between June 16, 2014 and May 15, 2015.

Corr was not in court when her case called on Friday, but the presiding sheriff said she would have to attend in person for sentencing to be passed. Her solicitor, Phil Lafferty, told Dumbarton Sheriff Court: “The sum referred to has been repaid.”

Mr Lafferty provided the court with a copy of an email confirming repayment of the sum.

A previous court hearing had been told the cash was found to be missing from the accounts of three grieving families, and that Corr had embezzled the money in an attempt to tackle a drug debt.

She was dismissed from her post after failing to attend a disciplinary hearing. At that hearing in March, Corr, of Burnside Crescent, was given until May to save up a minimum of £300 towards repaying the debt.

She will return to court to be sentenced on June 23.
